First time students (only) may arrange to borrow a beginner supply kit to use during the first 6-week class. Continuing students must obtain their own supplies; materials list given at registration. Register in person at least one week in advance; a portion of the class fee benefit the library. All skill levels welcome.

Acrylic Painting

Learn basic techniques used in acrylic painting. Beginner and intermediate painters welcome! Paintings will be done on stretched canvas or panel. Materials list handed out by instructor first class.

Discover the joys and beauty of flower painting. We will go over the fine art of botanical painting to the more freestyle form of painting florals. You choose your focus and we can work with your style choice. Excellent reference books will be shared and specially chosen colors for color "recipes" will be shared as well. This class is intended for watercolorists, but oils and acrylics painters may benefit as well. Instructor will have her own painting samples to show and tell.

Learn the value of painting from life and sharpen your observation skills in tackling a lush still life that you can focus on for the entire class sessions. This will enable you to capture the nuances that make for an excellent rendering of a still life. You can choose oils, acrylics or pastel to take your painting efforts tot he next level. A digital camera is suggested, as well as your painting supplies at the first class.

Pastels

Learn the possibilities in painting and drawing with pastels. Pastels are unique in that they are a dry medium and allow for more of a drawing approach to your paintings. Topics covered will be various papers and support used in pastels, various types of pastels and their usefulness in certain stages of a painting. Some drawing ability helpful. Materials list provided at first class.
